• About Our Program:

Some of the special events/programs that the library sponsors are:

Texas Bluebonnet Reading Program, Six Flags Read to Succeed, Reading Counts.

After reading Bluebonnet Award list titles , eligible students in grades 3-6 vote for their favorite title in the month of January.  The Texas Bluebonnet Award reading program encourages children to read more books for pleasure, and read a wider variety of titles.  A list of twenty books , both fiction and nonfiction, is released each year.  Students across the state of Texas are eligible to vote for their favorite title if they have read at least five of the twenty titles from the current list.  The author of the book receiving the most votes statewide is named the winner .

The Lone Star Reading list is similar to the Bluebonnet Reading Program.  Twenty titles are chosen each year, however, these titles are for students in grades 6-8.  There is no voting process with the Lone Star Reading list.

Pilot Point Intermediate participates in an exciting program that encourages students in grades K-6 to read for fun.  Read to Succeed  is a free program sponsered by Six Flags Theme Parks.  Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before the school's deadline is eligible for a free admission ticket valid at one participating Six Flags Theme Park.

The Reading Counts! program has been an important part of our school curriculum for more than ten years.  This is a computer-based quiz program that allows students to test their comprehension of specific books that they have read.  As they pass 70 percent of each quiz, they have points added to their student log.  These points allow them to be recognized at different award level throughout the year and during end-of-the-year school awards assembly.
