Mrs. Lecia Crowder
Hello, my name is Lecia Crowder, and I am so excited to be the Reading Intervention and Dyslexia teacher at Pilot Point Intermediate School. This will be my sixteenth year in teaching, and I have taught Reading Intervention, Inclusion, and Kindergarten in Aubrey ISD and First Grade in McKinney ISD. I am very happy to be returning to teaching reading exclusively because it has always been my favorite subject to teach. I love to see the light bulbs going off when a student suddenly grasps a concept. Teaching reading to struggling and dyslexic students is especially close to my heart because my daughter struggled with reading skills, and my son has dyslexia.
Speaking of family, I am married to a wonderful man, Eddie, and we have three children. Our beautiful daughter, Peyton, will be a Junior in high school this year, and our energetic son, Barrett, will be a Sixth-grader. Our adult daughter, Krista, works for Honda and has given us two precious granddaughters. Skylar is six and going to First Grade, and Riley is fifteen months old. We love spending time with them! We also love to go boating, fishing, and camping as a family, and we are huge football fans! In my "me" time, I love to make crafts and create things, and I love to keep learning new things.
I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'em Horns!). I am certified to teach General Education (Early Childhood - 4th Grade), ESL (EC - 12), and Special Education (EC - 12).
I cannot wait to meet all of the students at PPIS and start working on helping my new friends become successful readers!
