Student Council is hosting a blood drive at Pilot Point High School on Friday, December 9, from 9 AM to 3 PM.
As in previous years, students of age 16 are required to have a consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian to be able to donate blood.
There is a new requirement for all blood banks to have blood tested for Zika virus. For this reason, students age 16 and age 17 are now required to have a separate form signed by a parent or legal guardian giving consent to testing their student's blood for Zika virus. This test takes place after the blood has been donated, so the donation process itself is the same as it was in previous years.
Students graduating in May 2017 will receive a red cord at Rosecutting if the student donated blood or an adult donated in the student's name at least four times in the two years prior to the student's graduation.
